We've used extra material space by adding a bottle opener and a tungsten Glass Breaker. The bottle opener has been tested thoroughly (and responsibly) and the glass breaker is perfect for emergency escape situations.

The full opened length is only 7.5 inches and when closed, it stands at less than 5.1 inches in length and less than 1.0 inches in thickness.
